Contains spoilers for second season ending and third season. You've been warned.

Unlike the first movie, there arn't a many new characters introduced in The Sealed Card. It's just the usual cast, with only one new character (that being the Sealed Card itself). The movie, also the finale of the anime, has all of the characters appear one last time: Sakura, Shaolan, Meiling, Tomoyo, Touya, Yukito, Yue, Eriol, Kaho, Suppi, Fujitaka, Sonomi, and all of Sakura's classmates. However, the way they interact with each other in the movie differs from the way that they did in the first movie and the earlier part of the TV series. The one character that has changed the most is Yukito, because he now knows that he has someone else living inside of him.

Once Yukito had learned about Yue, the two formed a connection. Yukito is fully aware of Yue's presence and they even talk to themselves. Yukito also knows when Sakura might want to talk to Yue instead of himself, and can change into his real form on will. Personally, I think that Yukito took the fact that he has another real, non-human form, really smoothly. He didn't really seem panicked or disturbed by it at all, but seems to be at peace with his other self. Touya also knows about Yue, of course, and therefore leaves it up to Yue to help Sakura and protect her throughout the movie. The second movie really has a lot of great character development in that we see new sides of characters that we've never been shown before.

For example, after Shaolan told Meiling that he found someone else that he loves, Meiling went to Tomoyo's house and cried to her. So the two became close friends afterwards, and their friendship shows especially in the second movie, where they are always together and constantly trying to open up chances for Sakura to confess her feelings. Meiling was upset that Shaolan found someone else (but as their promise stated, they were only engaged as long as Shaolan didn't find someone that he loved more than Meiling), but she still felt that Shaolan should confess his love to Sakura and vice versa. She supported them completely, cheering them on.

Also, we see a side of Tomoyo in the movie that has also never been seen before. This side is the slightly "evil gleam in her eye, 'OH HO HO!'-ing" Tomoyo, and it is GREAT! Tomoyo's fox-like conspiring side is shown in its fully amusing and adorable glory in the second movie. Her high pitched "Oh ho ho!" is great. Kero-chan once commented to Tomoyo that she got Sakura to use the Create card and battle so she can tape Sakura with her battle costumes on. Tomoyo smirked evilly and replied, "I'd do anything to tape Sakura-chan in her battle costumes. OH HO HO HO HO!" I thought that was great, and added a lot of depth to her character.

Now, the new character that appears in the movie has empty and lifeless eyes, and looks like a frail little girl. She is, in fact, a Clow Card. The Card called Emptiness, to be exact. She is the Sealed Clow Card (hence the name of the movie) which had been sealed under Clow Reed's house. Unlike all of the other Clow Cards, who all have positive powers, she has negative powers. This is made to balance out the powers of the Clow Cards, like the yin and yang (the Chinese philosophy of the Ying Yang comes into play here). Since all fifty-two of the cards have positive powers, the Emptiness card has negative powers to balance out all fifty-two. That means she is just as powerful as all the rest of the Clow Cards put together.

Because Clow Reed's house was demolished and an amusement park was built in its place, the Emptiness card was let loose. She wants the Clow Cards because she has always been lonely, sealed up alone. The only way that Sakura can stop her is if she sacrifices her most important feeling of "love" to the person that she loves most. Will she have to sacrifice her most important feeling, or will she be able to find another way to seal the Emptiness card? You'll have to watch the movie to find out.
