Along with the usual suspects (a.k.a.  Sakura, Tomoyo, Shaolan, Meiling, Kero, Touya, Yukito, and Clow Reed) there are some new characters which are introduced in the first CCS movie. This includes Shaolan's family and Madoushi, the so called villain. I will try and make this section as spoiler free as possible.

Shaolan's beautiful mother, also Meiling's aunt.Shaolan's mother Li Yelan (also Meiling's aunt) is one of my favorite characters in the movie, along with Shaolan's sisters. What can I say? Shaolan's whole family kicks.

Yelan is extremely graceful, elegant, beautiful, and has a certain air about her which demands respect. Shaolan is also deathly afraid of her. Well, perhaps not afraid, but definitely intimidated, especially when she asked him for his report card. Shaolan's mother is stern and dedicated; she loves Shaolan, obviously, but is also strict in getting him to succeed. During the movie, when Shaolan fought against Madoushi for a little bit, Sakura blamed it on herself for his failure, but Yelan said, "No, it was because he wasn't strong enough." Shaolan's mother is definitely strong herself, and can hold her own with fighting with magic, sensing spirits, and breaking apart barriers. I think (rather, assume) that she is also the head of the Li family clan (quite a position to hold), since there is no talk about Shaolan's dad.

When Sakura came to the Li household, Yelan took a liking to the girl. After all, who can resist Sakura's charms? Yelan was able to sense Sakura's power and she also sensed that Sakura was in danger. She told Sakura that the more powerful one is, the more powerful evil spirits one attracts. She also believed that Sakura would be able to figure out a way out of the danger by herself. After Sakura and company spent the night at the Li household and they were leaving, Yelan bent down to Sakura and kissed her lightly on the cheek, much to Shaolan's dismay and shock (he nearly collapsed in the background :P). However, that was not the last time we saw of her, as she also came back to help Sakura other times later in the movie.

the first two sisters...These are Shaolan's sisters, named Li Fanran, Li Shiefa, Li Feimei, and Li Fuutie. These four older sisters are absolutely and utterly adoring. One can't help but wonder how Shaolan managed to stand them all his life. They made their first appearance when Sakura, Tomoyo, Kero-chan, Yukito, and Touya all came to the Li house and changed into Chinese clothing. When they saw Sakura and Tomoyo, they completely flipped. With a sudden rush, they barged in through the door to the room and surrounded Sakura and Tomoyo with a giant group hug, squealing about how adorable the two girls looked, nearly attacking them. One of them said, "You girls make us want to eat you!"

the other two out of the four. :PThen, at that moment, Yukito and Touya walked into the room, talking amongst themselves, also dressed in Chinese clothing. Suddenly, the four girls stopped and paused, eyeing the two young men. They quieted down, checking the two out, "They look nice, too." one said, "Yeah, they do." another echoed. Then, immediately, as if under a trance, they attacked the two men. At first they poked them silently and patted their heads, then swooned, hanging all over them, talking to them loudly. Sakura mentioned that Shaolan's sisters were very outgoing. Shaolan just groaned. It's really hard to imagine how Shaolan grew up. He was probably hugged daily and adored all the time, his cheeks pinched, etcetera, since he's the youngest boy among four older sisters. Poor Shaolan.

Madoushi with her ribbons and cool dress. XDThis is Madoushi, the villain in the movie. Her seiyuu is Megumi Hayashibara so fear not, Megumi did appear in CCS, all you Megumi fans! Madoushi is the woman who summons Sakura to Hong Kong by getting her to win the grand prize trip. She is also the woman who appears in Sakura's dreams with all the ribbons around her. The two birds that guide Sakura everywhere also belong to her.

Madoushi is actually not alive; she is an evil spirit. She died many, many years ago. She actually lived in Clow Reed's time. She used to be a fortune teller, and read peoples' fortunes by looking at their reflections in water. However, one day, Clow Reed came along, and even though fortune telling was not his specialty, his magic/fortune-telling power left Madoushi's magic in the dust. Her business failed and she was forced to close it down. After that, every single time she saw Clow, she challenged him to a fight, always trying to beat him.

Madoushi actually did not mean to summon Sakura to Hong Kong. She wanted to summon Clow Reed. Her grudge and hatred for Clow Reed caused her spirit to live on, and she had no idea that she was actually dead. In fact, she also had no idea that Clow Reed was long dead also. When Sakura came instead of Clow Reed, Madoushi was furious at the mix up and decided to take Sakura's powers so that she would grow stronger. However, she has a secret, and isn't quite what she seems...
