The first thing that one would notice about Yukito other than his extreme kindness, would be his ability to eat huge quantities of food in very small amounts of time. His "lunch" consists of a huge shopping bag filled with sweets and other various foods. He adores sweet foods especially, and says that he would eat any kind of cake as long as its sweet. One can only sit and wonder where he gets all the money for so much food. A lot of the time he eats so much that he finishes his own lunch, and then Touya sacrifices himself and gives his own lunch to him.
These two opposite personality traits make the relationship between these two perfect. While Touya will be doing something mischievous (like stealing Sakura's ice cream), Yuki will be the one to gently scold him for playing the role of the "bullying big brother," so to say, and will make up for his actions by offering to buy Sakura another cone of ice cream. Touya doesn't have any real malicious/mean intentions, of course, but he has a different way of showing his feelings for people. He won't really say it out loud, but his actions will say it. Like, take Sakura. He bullies her, and teases her all the time, and does steal her ice cream, but it's nothing too major, and Sakura is always ready to handle such things from her brother. But Yukito is more gentle, and is overall more soft-spoken and polite with people, and knows how to control his feelings better than Touya, I would say. Another example of how Yukito
knows how to control his emotions and feelings in a very mature manner
is when Sakura confessed to him her feelings. She confessed her crush to
him, and he let her down very gently. He had known all along how she had
felt for him, and yet he knew that nothing would ever happen between
them, because he had someone that he loved already, and he knew that
Sakura's idolization of him was more of a big-brother type love instead
of a romantic one. He told Sakura that she would find the true right
person for her one day, and to his surprise, Sakura knew that he had
found the right person himself, and she was able to guess that person
was Touya. I think that Yukito would make a very good big brother,
because he knows how to talk to children It truly takes a lot to faze Yukito, and in that respect he is amazing. I mean, in the whole series of CCS, I haven't found one time where Yukito was angry, or extremely upset at something. He handles everything with undying grace. It's amazing how he does it, and one of the reasons he's able to do such a thing is because he is incredibly laid back. He's an "I'm just going with the flow" kind of guy, and lets everything go on its own course, not letting about his own desires take over him. He is also very self-sacrificing, and this quality shows through with his extreme generosity. He's always the first to offer to treat people to food, or give them presents, or make them feel good about themselves. Yukito has a certain air, a certain charm about him, that just makes everyone feel all warm and gooey inside, and spreads comfort. Because of his personality, he has quite a lot of people in the series after him. He's got Touya, Sakura, and Shaolan all head over heals for him. Even though Shaolan's love for him is a little questionable, Yukito is the one person in CCS who has the record for having the most people after him. And even though it's very obvious that Sakura has a crush on Yukito, and Touya sees it as well, he doesn't say anything when Sakura and Yukito are together. While Touya might be extremely over-protective of Yukito with other people, such as Shaolan, and doesn't want anyone to get near him without his consent, he doesn't say anything with Sakura. Yukito even noticed this, and mentioned it to Touya, who didn't really answer why this was so.
Overall, Yukito is a very kind and generous character, and reminds me a lot of Tomoyo. They're both very hard to read, and always keep their real emotions behind a knowing smile. And that knowing smile plays through the series a lot. As Tomoyo knows Sakura better than Sakura knows herself, Yukito is the same with Touya. In the first two seasons, Yukito seems like a very flat character, and doesn't any depth into his personality at all. And because of that, I've found this spoiler-free character profile very hard to write. Once the third season approaches, Yukito and his relationship with Touya get a lot of depth, and Yukito becomes a much more intriguing character. However, to get into that depth, I would have to spoil a lot, and that wouldn't be good. So to experience the true depth of Yukito's character without spoiling anything, you're going to have to see the 3rd season of CCS. :P |
