Fujitaka was a teacher when he and Nadeshiko married. They waited for her to get out of high school before marrying, even though there was a lot of angst against Nadeshiko's family to Fujitaka. They weren't pleased with the marriage at all. However, the two followed their hearts and lived very happily together, until Nadeshiko died and young age around the age of 26. When Nadeshiko died, Fujitaka promised her that he would not cry over her and would not sadden himself, but would live a happy life without her. So he never cries for her, and keeps his promise strong. It's amazing that he is able to do such a thing, because he truly loved Nadeshiko, and he has an air about him that is kind of lonely and sad. Though he keeps a smiling face on the outside all the time, sometimes it's clear to see that it takes him some effort to keep his promise to Nadeshiko not to cry. After Nadeshiko died, it seemed that Fujitaka was never really forgiven by her family. Though he's not truly hated. It's really hard to hate someone like Fujitaka, because he is just so incredibly kind that's it nearly impossible to dislike him. Sonomi doesn't truly hate him; she is only jealous of him because Nadeshiko was truly the happiest when she was with him. In the anime, Sakura becomes fiercely determined to patch up things between her father and her mother's family, so she sends her great grandfather (on Nadeshiko's side) a gift for her birthday. The gift is what Nadeshiko sent him every year while she was still alive: something hand made, flowers, and a written letter. Sakura wrote to her great grandfather that Fujitaka was a great person and eventually, Fujitaka and her great grandfather met, and Fujitaka found out that he was not truly hated. The family naturally regretted that they were not able to spend as much time with Nadeshiko before her death. After that it seemed Fujitaka had a lot of guilt lifted off his shoulders. Overall, Fujitaka is a very gentle and caring person, and a great father to Sakura and Touya. |
