Clow Reed was
one of the most powerful sorcerers of his time. He possessed incredible
magic and, with the creation of the Clow Cards, was also able to read
the future (the Clow Cards could be used as something like Tarot Cards).
The Clow Cards were the legacy that he left behind. Clow Reed was a man
of great power but he was definitely not one of ambition. Clow knew his
limits and didn't try to avoid them or surpass them. He
knew that the Clow Cards would eventually be pa Clow knew when his life was coming to a close and when it was his time. Clow actually had the capabilities of lengthening his life. With his degree of magic, he would've been able to avoid death and live a longer life. However, Clow chose not to do that; he instead knew the exact day that he was going to die and took that fact with grace. He told Kereberus and Yue that he would die before that day came to a close and they were devastated. The two both loved Clow since he was their creator and master; they didn't want him to die. Yue outright refused Clow's death and declared that he would never want another master to take Clow's place. Clow smiled his all-knowing smile and appointed Yue and Kero-chan to make the decision for the next master of the Clow Cards. Clow wished the two to be happy before he died, and that was mainly all he wanted of his creations. They were more than creations to him. Kereberus, Yue, and the Clow Cards were children to him, in a way. It's not known whether Clow had a romantic interest or any intimate human relationships at all in his life. He seems to be a fairly secretive person, someone hard to get in contact with; someone that was slightly intimidating. In the first CCS movie, Madoushi was a sorceress who had affections for Clow, but those were never answered. I'm not sure if Clow ever knew of Madoushi's feelings, either. Though Clow was an extremely powerful sorcerer, he was a laid-back, go-with-the-flow guy at heart. He lived his life with a gentle nature and mysterious smile. |
